Congratulations to New DICE Division Chair

Headshot of David Dorr, M.D, M.S,

From: C. Terri Hough, MD MSc., Professor and Selling Chair, Department of Medicine

I am delighted to share that Dr. David A. Dorr, MD, MS, has been appointed as the inaugural Division Head of the Division of Informatics, Clinical Epidemiology, and Translational Data Science (DICE)!
Dr. David Dorr is a Professor of Medicine in both the Division of Informatics, Clinical Epidemiology, and Translational Data Science and the Division of General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics. He also serves as OHSU’s Chief Research Information Officer. Throughout his career, Dr. Dorr has been dedicated to improving how we manage and apply data, information, and knowledge in both research and health care delivery—with a particular focus on collaborative care, quality improvement, and chronic disease management for older adults and other vulnerable populations.

He leads the Care Management Plus research team, which has received substantial support from the John A. Hartford Foundation, Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, The Commonwealth Fund, NIH, AHRQ, and PCORI. In addition, Dr. Dorr co-leads the newly launched Center for AI-enabled Learning Health Science (CAILHS) and chairs OHSU’s AI Governance Committee, helping advance the responsible use of AI and machine learning in health care.

As Division Head, Dr. Dorr brings a forward-thinking vision to DICE. He aims to foster deeper collaboration across the division’s faculty and staff while integrating the strengths of informatics, clinical epidemiology, and translational data science across our missions. His priorities include expanding our work in AI and machine learning, strengthening our ties to health system innovation, and reimagining educational programs to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving landscape.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Dorr on this new leadership role. We are excited to support his vision and look forward to the continued growth and impact of DICE under his direction!
