Interdisciplinary teams
The OHSU Digestive Health Center offers patients an interdisciplinary team approach to the prevention, detection, and treatment of digestive disorders. Our teams blend clinical expertise with research advances to achieve the best possible care and outcomes. The team includes patients, their referring physicians, and a wide range of OHSU specialists, including:
- Gastroenterologists
- Bariatric Surgeons
- General Surgeons
- Oncologists
- Radiologists
- Pathologists
- Pulmonologists
- Otolaryngologists
- Nutritionists
- Psychiatrists
- Nurses
- Pain management specialists
- Other disciplines based on patient needs
Customized treatment plans
Working together, team members design a management plan specifically tailored for each patient. With the active involvement of the referring physician, the team monitors patient progress throughout treatment, adjusting the plan as needed.
Patient care coordination
We know that receiving care in a complex medical center such as OHSU can be overwhelming. Our goal is to make your experience easy and efficient. To help us achieve this goal our patient care coordinators, who are nurse practitioners, work directly with patients as their anchor and advocate while interacting with OHSU physicians, specialty clinics, the GI lab, radiology suite, and operating room. The key to the success of the Digestive Health Center is friendly and compassionate patient care coordination.
We look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
John G. Hunter, M.D., F.A.C.S.
