Department of Neurology Residency Program

Welcome

Graduate education is a major mission of OHSU. The Neurology Residency Training Program is the first priority of the Department of Neurology. Our fully accredited four-year categorical program accepts five residents per year. Our goal is to train clinical neuroscientists: individuals who provide expert patient care and who understand basic and clinical neurosciences.

In addition to emphasizing education, neurology faculty are active in patient care as well as clinical and basic neuroscience research. As a result of this exposure, graduates of the program are prepared for both private clinical practice and academic neurology careers.

Current residents find that our neurology staff values teaching as an exchange of ideas and as an activity that promotes interaction and inquiry among faculty and residents. Residents are treated as junior colleagues. Formal and informal interaction between faculty and residents is encouraged. Approachability and collegiality are at the core of our culture.

Diversity in our community and equal access to the highest quality health care are at the heart of our values. We are firmly committed to diversity and inclusion as essential components in providing outstanding patient care and fostering an ideal environment for medical education. We will always welcome and support patients, staff, residents, and faculty of diverse race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation as a part of our mission.
