Advancing aging research
The CART initiative uses technology to assess health and activity in the home and community with the goal to provide an open research platform that can be widely used by researchers to detect meaningful change over long periods of time. The system may be used across a range of study types - natural history, health interventions, clinical trials - to provide more objective, continuous and ecologically valid data for research.
Funded by the NIA and the Department of Veterans Affairs and developed in partnership between OHSU, Rush University, the University of Miami, University of Pennsylvania, Weill Cornell Medicine, and the Portland VA, the initiative focused on research addressing the independence and well-being of older adults who are members of diverse communities.
