About me
Dr. Shafir specializes in taking care of people with serious and life limiting illnesses. She has advanced training in both geriatrics and palliative care. These specializations allow her to focus on improving the care of older adults with multiple medical conditions. Her hope is to help support patients and families with symptom management and determining goals of care by collaborating closely with their care team.
Dr. Shafir chose this field because she has a deep respect and admiration for older adults and people living with serious illness. She is in awe of the grace, resilience, and strength she witnesses in her patients. As a clinician educator, she has a special interest in medical education and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Dr. Shafir is new to Oregon and lives in Portland with her husband and geriatric pug. She enjoys restaurants, cooking, gardening, and hiking.

If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher.
