About me

Dr. Amanda Chiapa is a pediatric psychologist who uses cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, mindfulness and other evidence-based therapies to help children adjust to and cope with chronic illnesses and other medical diagnoses, anxiety, grief and loss, and neurodevelopmental symptoms.

Dr. Chiapa is a member of the Institute on Development and Disability at OHSU. She is passionate about helping reduce health disparities across marginalized or underserved populations. She strives to provide culturally informed and collaborative care with patients and their families and enjoys helping them learn therapeutic and advocacy skills to promote resiliency and reduce distress.

Her research interests reflect her clinical work and she focuses on program development and evaluation of interventions and educational efforts aimed at promoting well-being across patients and providers in the health care setting.

On the weekends, Dr. Chiapa enjoys exploring coffee shops, playgrounds and listening to music with her husband and two toddlers. One of her goals includes learning to ride a bike.
