About me

I am honored to join the OHSU Student Health and Wellness team as a physician. I am a first-generation college graduate, raised by my mother, who is Jarocha (native to Veracruz, México), and by my father, who is from a rural fishing village by the Japan Sea.

Growing up immersed in the traditional ways of both of my parents, I understand that people's unique perceptions about their health and well-being are deeply influenced by their cultural upbringing, environment, and sense of belonging.

I received my MD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed my residency training in Family Medicine at OHSU.

I believe it is important to pay attention to the nuances of what my patients are truly asking before jumping into a diagnosis and treatment plan. I strive to create a space that is confidential, non-judgmental, and one that celebrates people for who they are.

I look forward to seeing patients who have a specific health concern and equally welcome patients who want to come in for a general wellness check to talk about how to prevent illness and stay healthy while juggling life as a student.

When I'm not in the clinic, I can be found doing a medley of other things. I love experimenting with new spice combinations in the kitchen, admiring cherry blossoms, enjoying the changing Fall colors, swimming, spending quality time with loved ones, and being part of musical communities. Having sung with PSU’s mariachi for two years, I am now learning to play the jarana for a Son Jarocho group.

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher.
