About me

Dr. Benjamin Carr is a pediatric surgeon who performs a broad range of open and minimally invasive surgeries for pediatric surgical conditions such as surgical diseases of infants and congenital anomalies of the esophagus, trachea, stomach, intestines, lungs and diaphragm, including hernia, fistula, atresia, Hirschsprung’s disease and others. He is devoted to caring for critically ill infants and children in the NICU and PICU, and has completed advanced training in pediatric surgical critical care, ECMO (a life support device) and airway surgery.

Dr. Carr is passionate about technical excellence, operative pedagogy and clinical reasoning. He is always interested in innovative surgical techniques, quality improvement and optimizing frameworks and outcomes for surgical NICU and PICU patients. He prioritizes caring, openness and clarity in his interactions with patients and families and takes a thoughtful and strategic approach to surgery. He loves to perform exceptional operations for sick children, empower their families and see the children grow up to do amazing things.

Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife, their golden retriever and their three-legged cat. He also enjoys hiking, reading, playing music and drinking coffee.
