About me

Dr. Brian Frank is a family doctor. He understands that a wide range of factors, some of which are outside a patient's control, influence their health. His goal is to support each patient's unique needs and empower patients to take charge of their health with help from a collaborative medical team.

Early in his training, Dr. Frank recognized the power of food to prevent and treat disease and began incorporating healthy lifestyle therapies into the care plans for all of his patients.

Outside of his work treating patients, Dr. Frank leads research projects that help engage the private sector in efforts to improve health equity. Dr. Frank writes and speaks nationally about food insecurity, implicit bias and other issues related to health equity.

When not at work, Dr. Frank is an avid home (amateur) chef. He has been experimenting in the kitchen since his first attempt at making a cake at the age of five (flour, sugar, milk, chocolate chips). Fortunately, he is a quick learner. He is rarely happier than when in the kitchen, preparing food for his family and friends.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
