About me

Carmen specializes in providing perfusion and ECMO support to infants and children with congenital heart disease. Her passion for taking care of children started as a neonatal nurse and Captain in the Army Nurse Corps and then carried through to her new career as a perfusionist in 1992. She joined the Doernbecher Children Hospital’s cardiac team in 2000 and now can’t imagine living anywhere else but the Pacific Northwest.

Carmen was raised in a large musical family and continues to enjoy playing violin and singing in her church choir.  Being the daughter of a Swiss baker, she also loves to bake, as well as cycle, hike and read.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
