About me

Dr. Elizabeth Eckstrom is a geriatric doctor who leads the geriatrics practice within OHSU's internal medicine clinic and is co-director of OHSU's Health Aging Alliance. She teaches medical students, residents, fellows and faculty to care for older adults. She and her team also work to improve quality of care for older adults admitted to OHSU hospital. Her research focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle in older adults, with an emphasis on tai chi for fall prevention.

She has directed me to various OHSU specialists as required for a variety of issues minor and major. I consider myself fortunate to have her as my primary care physician.

She explained how long my recovery from my back surgery would take, and what I need to do to fully recover. And she deeply cares about me as a patient, and also about me as a person. She is holistic, understanding that faith and spirituality can play a positive role in healing. I'd give her an 11 out of 10 if I could!

When necessary she describes a range of potential remedies, from most conservative to least, and discusses all options. She only recommends medication when it is needed. She addresses many factors which contribute to health, including diet and exercise. I have total confidence in Dr. Eckstrom and am very fortunate to have been her patient for decades.
