About me
Although a native of West Michigan, Dr. Muench has worked at the OHSU Richmond Clinic since its opening in 1995. While the Richmond neighborhood has changed significantly since that time, he has been honored to continue serving many of those who established care at Richmond in the 90’s and hopes to carry these, and new, relationships forward well into the new millennia.
He completed a National Research Service Award fellowship in 2001, receiving a Masters in public health degree focusing on diabetes screening, and continues to study systems processes for screening in primary care. Currently an associate professor at OHSU, he serves as the director of behavioral medicine for the Department of Family Medicine, director of the SBIRT Oregon Primary Care Residency Initiative (focusing on alcohol and drug screening), and as the OHSU representative to the clinical oversight group at OCHIN, an electronic health record service shared collaboratively with other safety-net clinics.
Dr. Muench studied in the great books reading program at the University of Notre Dame and still enjoys reading anything from classical literature to pulp fiction.

Insurance
Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
