About me

Dr. Shatzel specializes in caring for adults with clotting and bleeding disorders along with a host of other hematologic disorders. He is an avid academic, publishing numerous research articles and book chapters focused on hematology.  He has been awarded multiple teaching awards by the department of medicine and actively mentors multiple trainees.  He is also active in the laboratory focusing on coagulation, platelet disorders and the development of novel anticoagulants.  He has a joint appointment in the biomedical engineering department where he focuses on developing innovative ways to offer anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapy. 

In his spare time Dr. Shatzel enjoys writing and spending time with his friends and his dog Harley. He is an avid hiker, and enjoys biking watching movies and reading.
