About me

Dr. Laura Ibsen is a Pediatric Intensivist, specializing in caring for infants and children who are critically ill after surgery, due to injury, or due to a medical illness. She has been at OHSU Doernbecher since 1998 and has served as the Chair of the American Board of Pediatrics Critical Care Sub-Board as well as the Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Critical Care Education Program. She has been Medical Director of the PICU since 2001 and is currently the interim Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care. She has a special interest in fostering a collaborative, supportive environment for care. Dr. Ibsen enjoys the teamwork in the ICU and the opportunity to help children and families during difficult times. Dr. Ibsen is also very involved in medical student as well as resident and fellow education and enjoys sharing her experiences and knowledge with these learners and future health care providers.

In her spare time, Dr. Ibsen enjoys her two dogs and two cats, gardening, and learning to ride horses. She loves the Oregon coast as well as the beautiful mountains of the northwest, and doesn’t much mind the rain.
