About me

Dr. Strother specializes in caring for patients with cancers of the genitourinary system, including the kidney, prostate, adrenal gland, ureter, bladder, penis, testicles and urethra. He has advanced training in open and minimally invasive (laparoscopic, robotic and endoscopic) surgery.

Dr. Strother chose to specialize in urologic oncology because of the immense satisfaction he feels in helping patients move past cancer. Most urologic cancers can be cured, and helping patients return to living happy, healthy lives while using advanced technology to minimize the side effects of treatment is extremely rewarding.

Dr. Strother's research focuses on improving the care of patients immediately before and after surgery.

Outside of work, Dr. Strother enjoys biking, reading science fiction and rock climbing with his wife, who is a pediatric endocrinologist at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
