About me

Dr. McCaskill specializes in treating patients with seizures of all forms and is fellowship trained in both clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy. As part of OHSU's initiative to address health care disparities in minority groups, Dr. McCaskill champions for the African American and LGBTQ+ communities, specifically patients on gender-affirming hormone therapy. When not working in the Epilepsy Clinic, Dr. McCaskill also helps lead the inpatient neurology ward and consults services maintaining a wide breadth of expertise in the field of neurology with an emphasis on sleep, neuroendocrine and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Enhancing the OHSU patient experience, Dr. McCaskill is a leader in Canine-Assisted Care and is often accompanied by his Medical Service Dog/Seizure Detection Dog, Reggie, when seeing patients. He also helps neurology patients seeking service dog training and Canine-Assisted Care integration into their treatment plan.

In his free time, Dr. McCaskill enjoys fitness-related activities of all forms, including martial arts, weightlifting, yoga, axe throwing, bowling, dog training/canine fitness and nutrition.

As Assistant Program Director of the Neurology Residency Training program, Dr. McCaskill strongly advocates for Resident wellness and enriching the residents' education in the realms of Diversity, Patient conflict resolution and Preparation for Independent Practice.
