About me

Dr. Hellums graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Texas, followed by a residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Hellums then pursued a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at Oregon Health and Science University, where he joined as faculty.

As the co-director of the Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Fellowship, Dr. Hellums is dedicated to training the next generation. He specializes in head and neck cancer, thyroid and parathyroid diseases, advanced head and neck microvascular reconstruction, and transoral robotic surgery. Dr. Hellums’ research interests include medical education, clinical outcomes in head and neck oncology and thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and systems-based research. He is committed to a multidisciplinary approach to care, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate treatment for all patients.

In his spare time, Dr. Hellums enjoys spending time with friends and family, being outdoors hiking, playing golf, and traveling.
