About me
Dr. Qin, Ph.D is a clinical microbiologist with over twenty years of experience in medical microbiology, and a specialist in the molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases. In her role as a microbiology lab director, she has remained sensitive and active in staying up to date with cutting edge technologies which have significantly changed the diagnostic paradigm from “waiting for incubation” to around-clock identification of pathogens when they are present or multiplying.
Dr. Qin's main areas of interests include:
1) Antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, including multidrug resistance in Enterobacteriaceae
2) Symbiotic evolution of bacterial agents associated with chronic infections and the resulting heterogeneous drug resistance by multicellularity
3) Characterization of changing microbial ecology and microbial diversity using traditional culture method, DNA/genome technology, and proteomic mass spectrometry
