Residents and Fellows
Graduate Medical Education is one of the central missions of Oregon Health & Science University, and we offer training in virtually all fields of medicine. OHSU and the Veterans Affairs Portland Health Care System are the major clinical teaching facilities for both undergraduate and graduate medical education.
The patient care and teaching programs at the university and the VAPORHCS are under the direction and supervision of OHSU faculty. Residents and fellows participate in the care of patients in these hospitals and gain additional experience in community hospitals, which have affiliated teaching programs under the direction of the OHSU School of Medicine.
OHSU's residency and fellowship programs emphasize academic excellence throughout the training experience, offering a learning environment that balances the personal and professional needs of our house staff.
Residents and fellows will demonstrate competence in the six ACGME Core Competencies: Patient Care and Procedural Skills, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism, and Systems-Based Practice.
