Megan McGhean is the Family Medicine Department Administrator for Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. She has been with the department since 2002, and has held the Department Administrator role since 2015. Currently, the Department has around 600 employees which includes 200+ faculty members spread out over 10 clinic locations that range from Scappoose to Hillsboro to Klamath Falls Oregon.
Prior to becoming the Department Administrator, she worked as the OHSU Family Medicine Richmond’s Practice Manager and CFO. During her time at Richmond, they applied for and received Federally Qualified Look-A-Like status and then went on to receive full Federally Qualified Health Center Status from HRSA.
Megan has helped the department develop a strategic plan, a diversity plan, and has also been involved in additional projects and initiatives related to patients, the community, finance, and professional development for faculty and staff. One of her favorite things to do is bring people together while incorporating fun and creativity. As a graphic facilitator and recorder, she uses images to capture and distill big ideas, and bring to life work groups and process improvement. She now travels with markers and drawing paper everywhere she goes.
