Expectations for OHSU members
When it comes to discriminatory misconduct:
- OHSU employees, except designated confidential employees, must report discriminatory misconduct they hear about to OCIC or to their Human Resources business partner.
- Students are not required to report discriminatory misconduct.
- All OHSU members are encouraged to report discriminatory misconduct they experience.

OCIC serves all OHSU Members and is comprised of the AVP for the OCIC and Title IX Coordinator, the Director of the OCIC, an Administrative Coordinator and Administrative Assistant, the ADA Coordinator, the Director for Prevention and Education and Prevention and Education Specialist, Equal Opportunity Officers, Confidential Intake Specialists, and the Director of the Confidential Advocacy Program for Employees and Confidential Advocate for Employees. Our education and training programs support fair treatment for all. We investigate reports of Discriminatory Misconduct with a neutral, fact-finding approach.
OCIC administers programs and procedures and offers education, training, and other resources to build an equitable community committed to preventing prohibited discrimination and harassment. The OCIC investigative team reviews reports of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct.

OHSU policy strictly prohibits discrimination, harassment and retaliation based on any protected characteristic.
Prohibited discrimination, harassment and retaliation can occur between many different types of people including:
- Employees and managers
- Co-workers
- Faculty members
- Staff members and outside contractors or vendors
- Faculty members and staff or students
- Staff members and patients
- Members of different genders
- Members of the same gender

What to expect when you contact us
You can contact OCIC 24 hours a day through our voicemail line or email. We respond to calls and emails as soon as possible and give priority to urgent cases.
After you send a message, an OCIC team member will contact you to discuss reporting options. OCIC will work with you to determine whether there is a potential violation of OHSU policy.
You may submit an OCIC report at any time.
OCIC is a neutral and independent department. Before filing a report with us, you may find it helpful to contact one of the options for confidential advocacy and support.
What to expect if you submit a report
After you submit a report, a team member will be in touch. The process and timeline for resolution varies depending on your specific situation. All reports are treated with care and as much privacy as possible.
We know that these can be difficult and painful situations. Confidential advocacy and support are available throughout the process.
