What you need to know about student compliance
The SON Compliance Office and Student Health and Wellness (SHW) will be tracking and monitoring your overall compliance while completing your nursing program. The information below will help you complete your compliance requirements.
New students are given access to their OHSU accounts, Compass and network IDs around 60 days before their start date.
Students MUST complete ALL requirements before their compliance deadline. At the start of the term and throughout your program, if you are non-compliant within Exxat, you may be pulled from clinical and a hold will be placed on your student account preventing you from registering for future courses.
Winter 2025 Term Compliance Deadlines for New Students:
Immunization requirements due: November 25, 2025
Background check and Drug screen due: December 16, 2025
Compass trainings due: December 16, 2025
Compliance Documents & Exxat due: January 6th, 2025
Steps to Compliance
Exxat is a clinical placement and compliance tracking platform. Your clinical placement information, rotations and compliance items will be tracked through Exxat. You will receive an Exxat log-in welcome email (sent to your OHSU account) to set up your account 50 days before starting the term. Make sure to keep your Exxat profile information up-to-date via the Exxat log-in page.

CPR Certification:
- CPR Certification The School of Nursing only accepts CPR certifications issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). It is the student’s responsibility to always maintain an active CPR certification. If your CPR certification expires, you will be pulled from your clinical and unable to return until you renew your certification. *Some online programs are exempt from CPR requirements. Undergraduate students: will get their CPR BLS certification within the first month of the term.
RN License:

- D.N.P. - AGACNP
- D.N.P. - PNP
- D.N.P. - FNP
- D.N.P. - CRNA
- D.N.P. - Nurse-Midwifery
- D.N.P. - PMHNP
- HSOL

New students must fill out an Immune Status Form and submit it to Student Health and Wellness.
These requirements are meant to provide a safe environment for students, employees and patients at OHSU and participating clinical and research training sites. Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section on the Immune Status Form or visit the above webpage for detailed information and how to complete the form. Please reach out with SHW if you have any questions or need assistance.
If Immunization Requirements are not completed by 14 days after matriculation, a $95 fee will be charged. If you are still not compliant with these requirements within 30 days after matriculation, a hold will be placed on your student account that will suspend your student status and prevent you from registering and attending classes.
*Some online programs are exempt from immunization requirements.
Students are required to complete mandatory Compass trainings, to access these trainings use your OHSU account information and complete all assigned modules. These will be assigned 50 days prior to the start of the term. Compass Support: teamcompass@ohsu.edu

Students are required to complete a background check and a 10-panel drug screen through our partnered vendor called Advanced Reporting LLC. School of Nursing Drug Screening policy 50-01.15
Around 45 days prior to the term start, students will receive an order email from automation@instascreen.net this is to begin the background check and drug screen process. Students will need to complete the requested information to become compliant for the Oregon Health Administrative Rules (OAR). It is a student's responsibility to request a copy of the background check and drug screen results for their personal records. If a closer collection site is needed for the drug screen, please reach out to Advanced Reporting directly for assistance.
IMPORTANT!
Students have 7 days to start the background check process, and 21 days to complete a drug screen from the day students receive the order request email from Advanced Reporting.
All School of Nursing students need to have an ID badge. These are the required items:
- Cleared background check
- Cleared drug screen
- Compass modules
- Submitted Immunization Status Form to shwcompliance@ohsu.edu
The above items are due no later than the compliance deadline.
