School of Nursing Leading Initiatives
The Interprofessional Initiative (IPI) is helping drive an educational revolution at OHSU. Working collaboratively across OHSU's schools and programs, we're building a model for interprofessional education (IPE) that makes team-based, patient-centered care the new standard. As a critical aspect of the OHSU Vision 2020 strategic plan, IPE and interprofessional collaborative practice (IPCP) are integrated throughout OHSU's healing, education, research and community service mission.
How OHSU School of Nursing will participate in the Interprofessional Initiative
New core competencies and clinical training with students from other professional tracks will help our students gain the skills they need to provide patient-centered, team-based care. Students will not only learn what other health professionals do, but how to collaborate with one another, keeping the patient and family at the center of the team. Patients benefit from being part of the health care team that makes important clinical decisions together.
