Pediatric Continuing Medical Education
Continuing medical education for pediatric physicians and nurses
OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital sponsors continuing professional development activities for pediatric physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in a wide variety of clinical areas, with special emphasis on primary care. Our pediatric CME programs draw on the clinical and academic strengths of the OHSU and OHSU Doernbecher faculty and are held throughout the year in many different locations and formats.
Pediatric continuing medical education opportunities:
Pediatric Grand Rounds
Doernbecher hosts weekly pediatric Grand Rounds that cover evolving diagnostics and therapeutics related to general and subspecialty pediatrics, as well as community and academic resources relevant to the pediatric practice.
Pediatric advanced life support (PALS)
PALS is a two-day course developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics for the continuing education of physicians and other healthcare providers. The course focuses on identifying pre-arrest states, preventing cardiopulmonary arrest in children, and covers techniques relevant to effective recognition and pediatric resuscitation. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a PALS Provider Card. CME credits are not available.
Neonatal resuscitation program (NRP)
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is an evidence-based training program designed to teach providers the technical, cognitive, and behavioral skills required for optimal management of asphyxiated newborns immediately following birth.
