Pediatric Support Services
We know that having the support of family and friends is a very important part of your child's healing process. During your child's stay or visit with us, we want you and your family to be comfortable. Therefore, we offer you support services to connect with other family and friends as well as to understand and cope with your hospital experience.
Internet access throughout the hospital
During your stay with us, you and your family have in-room Internet access on 10S, 10N, 9S, 9N as well as in the common areas on Doernbecher 9 South, 9 North, 8 South, 8 North, 7 North, and the Doernbecher Neonatal Care Center (DNCC) area. This service is provided for your child and your family to communicate with friends and family or for educational and entertainment activities during your stay at our hospital.
Family spaces
Patient rooms
Each Doernbecher patient room can accommodate 1-2 parents to sleep in the room with the child. Please note that siblings cannot spend the night, so please make plans for your other children.
Family lounges
Doernbecher 9 North, 9 South, and 10 North each have a family lounge in the center of each unit with a refrigerator, microwave, and seating. You are encouraged to use this area to relax, eat and talk with other families.
Indoor and outdoor play spaces
Kids don’t stop being kids at the hospital. That is why we have special places for children and their families to socialize and play. An outdoor play structure is located on the first floor, behind Starbucks. Use the doors just past Starbucks and look for the play structure on the right. Patients and their families can also enjoy the outdoor courtyard on the 9th floor. Access is available near the vending machines or from the 9th floor patient corridor.
And from video games in the emergency waiting room to play rooms and art projects for all ages, you will find areas throughout the hospital designed to keep kids (and parents) happy and comfortable during their stay at Doernbecher.
Meditation room
You can also use a special meditation room for patients and families on the 10th floor of Doernbecher hospital.
