Step-by-step job application instructions
Step one: Visit the OHSU jobs website
The jobs website lists all OHSU job openings.
Visit the site to explore nursing jobs, faculty jobs and other OHSU job openings in health care, business services, public safety and more. Use the search box and drop-down menus to filter jobs by category, type and location.
Step two: Submit your job application
When you find a job you like, apply directly on the OHSU jobs website.
- Click the “apply for this job online” button
- Create or update your profile
- Attach a general résumé
- Attach a general cover letter
- Enter your information
- Submit your application
Step three: Track your application
After you apply, you can track the status of your application. Log into the jobs website and look for these status levels:
- Submission received: Your application was successfully submitted.
- Under review: Your qualifications are being reviewed, and you are under consideration for this job.
- Reviewed, not selected: We reviewed your application and are moving forward with other candidates. You are no longer being considered for this job.
- Not reviewed: We received your application after narrowing the pool of candidates for this job. You are not being considered for this job.
- Interviewed, not selected: We are moving forward with other candidates. You are no longer being considered for this job.
- Withdrawn: You withdrew as a candidate for this job.
- Contacted, no response: We tried to contact you about this job but didn’t hear back.
- Interview, no show: You did not attend a scheduled phone screen or interview.
- In process: You accepted a verbal offer for this job. A written offer letter and background check are in the works.
- Offer declined: You turned down a written offer.

Résumé dos and don’ts from OHSU recruiters
Stand out from the crowd by following these résumé suggestions from our human resources recruitment team.
Résumé dos
- Do highlight your areas of experience that match the job posting.
- Do list jobs separately, with the month and year you began and ended each position.
- Do include all work experience, even if it's unrelated to the position or if it means your résumé is longer than one or two pages.
- Do list job duties and accomplishments in five bullets or less under each position.
- Do start with your most recent experience and work backward chronologically.
- Do include your phone number and email address.
- Do check formatting before submitting.
- Do submit a PDF version and not a Word document.
- Do include your name, job title and job number in your résumé file name.
Résumé don’ts
- Don't include any pictures or headshots.
- Don’t list your full home address.
- Don’t use more than five bullet points to list job duties and accomplishments under each position.
- Don't add references. If you receive a job offer, we may request references then.
- Don't say "references available upon request."
