Specimen Requirements:
3 mL blood in a LAVENDER top (EDTA) tube, 2 mL minimum.
Whole blood collected in EDTA is stable up to 24 hours at 2 to 25 degrees C prior to plasma preparation.
After plasma separation, the specimen is stable up to 6 days refrigerated at 2 to 8 degrees C; or it is stable up to 12 weeks frozen at -18 degrees C or colder.
Plasma samples are stable for up to four freeze/thaw cycles when frozen at -18 degrees C or colder.
