Interpretation:
Test results interpreted by a pathologist.
Specimen Requirements:
3 mL peripheral blood or Bone marrow in a LAVENDER top (EDTA) or GREEN (Na Heparin) top tube.
Body fluids or CSF in a sterile container. RPMI may be added for stability.
Tissue in a sterile container with RPMI.
Transport the specimens to the lab ASAP at room temperature.
Pediatric Specimen Requirements:
0.5 mL peripheral blood or Bone marrow in a LAVENDER top (EDTA) or GREEN (Na Heparin) top tube.
Body fluids or CSF in a sterile container. RPMI may be added for stability.
Tissue in a sterile container with RPMI.
Transport the specimens to the lab ASAP at room temperature.
Comments:
A concurrent CBC should be ordered and submitted within 24 hours of bone marrow or peripheral blood of collection.
Peripheral blood: stable for 24 hours at room temperature.
Bone marrow: stable for 24 hours at room temperature.
Body fluids: stable for 24 hours.
CSF: stable up to 4 hours.
Tissue: stable for 24 hours.
