Specimen Requirements:

6 mL blood in a Lavender top (EDTA) tube or a Buccal Swab. Refrigerated specimens are stable for up to 7 days. Room temperature samples are stable for up to 24 hours.

Pediatric Specimen Requirements:

2 mL blood in a 3 mL LAVENDER top (EDTA) tube. Refrigerated specimens are stable for up to 7 days. Room temperature samples are stable for up to 24 hours.

Comments:

To fulfill Federal regulations requiring HLA typing using a sample obtained separate from the sample used for initial testing. Common and well-documented HLA allele determination using DNA technology (polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primers, sequence specific oligonucleotides, or Next Generation Sequencing).
