Estrogen Receptor (ER) and Progesterone Receptor (PR) immunohistochemical studies allow for the semi-quantitative detection of Estrogen receptor (clone SP1) and Progesterone receptor (clone 1E2) antigen in sections of formalin fixed, paraffin embedded tissue, and is performed on an automated slide stainer according to ASCO/CAP guidelines. This testing is indicated as an aid in the management, prognosis, and prediction of therapy outcome for breast cancer.
