Biography

Dr. Burt is a psychiatrist at Student Health.

He received his B.S. in cellular and molecular biology, and his M.D. from the University of Washington in Seattle. He completed his residency in Psychiatry at OHSU in 1991 and became board certified in 1993. He obtained his board certification in forensic psychiatry in 1995.

Dr. Burt has practiced in a variety of settings, including 8 years of private practice and then a number of public psychiatry settings, both as a provider and supervising physicians.

Dr. Burt is a past president of the Oregon Psychiatric Physicians Association and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He has provided consultation to the Oregon Medical Board for several years, and this work sparked an interest in improving healthcare provider wellness.

Dr. Burt has a wide range of interests including psychopharmacology, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotherapy using an integrated model incorporating both insight-oriented work and CBT techniques.

Dr. Burt is excited to be a part of OHSU student health and help them, and OHSU students, achieve their goals.
