Biography
Alexandra Tihomirov (Bukchin) received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology in 2020, supervised by Prof. Alejandro Sosnik at the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Nanomaterial Science. Thesis title - "Polymeric nanocarriers modified with shuttle peptides for drug targeting to the central nervous system". After graduating, Alex worked as a Research Associate at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Technion where she developed a drug-eluting polymeric-based stent for bladder cancer. And then joined as a VP R&D to CaleeTech, an Israeli medical device startup that aspired to improve the quality of life of diabetic and obese patients with a unique and revolutionary polymeric technology. Alex joins CEDAR as a Postdoctoral Scholar and will focus on polymeric based innovative treatment for cancer. She enjoys hiking, camping, rock climbing and is
thrilled to explore the great outdoors in Oregon. Alex is enthusiastic to join CEDAR and believes that her positive attitude, strong motivation and expertise will help CEDAR promote its mission.
