Biography

Dr. Amrita Desai is a hematologist/oncologist who treats leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. She specializes in cellular therapy and stem cell transplants, using stem cells from the patient’s own body (autologous) or a donor (allogeneic). 

Dr. Desai’s research focuses on: 

  • Lymphoma that recurs after treatment
  • Treatments to prepare patients for stem cell transplants
  • Therapies to prevent relapse and complications such as graft vs. host disease (GVHD) after stem cell transplants

Dr. Desai enjoys working with and caring for patients during the toughest moments of their lives.  Being part of their journey and offering support and comfort affirms her belief in science, compassion and the resilience of the human spirit.

When she is not working, she loves to garden and spend time with her daughter and husband, cycling and going on hikes.
