Biography

Dr. Amy Cantor is a family physician who specializes in primary care for women. She is passionate about women’s health and enjoys working with women of all ages and stages of life, including adolescents. She provides comprehensive primary care and enjoys collaborating with a community of dedicated women’s health care providers. Her clinical practice is in the primary care division at the Center for Women’s Health. She serves as clinical faculty at OHSU and is a mentor for students and residents. She aspires to help individuals and communities achieve optimal health through comprehensive and compassionate care.

Dr. Cantor is also a core investigator at the Pacific Northwest Evidence based practice center at OHSU. Her research focuses on the intersection of primary care, women’s health, evidence-based medicine, and health care guidelines and delivery. Her research has been used to determine national clinical practice guidelines, health policy, and formulary and coverage decisions affecting millions of Americans.

Dr. Cantor is principal investigator on multiple research studies funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI); the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ); and the Health Research Services Administration (HRSA). She is the PI conducting evidence reviews on behalf of the HRSA-sponsored Women’s Preventive Services Initiative (WPSI), a cooperative agreement between the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the US department of Health and Human Services to inform health care coverage for millions of women under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

After growing up in Southern California, she attended the University of California, Berkeley for her undergraduate degree, completed public health training at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, California 2010 and came to Portland to complete a fellowship in Women’s Health at OHSU/Portland VA medical center. From there, she decided to make the Pacific Northwest her permanent home. In her free time, she is an avid runner and outdoor enthusiast and loves to spend time with her family.
