Biography
Aura is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP-BC), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and assistant professor within the Division of Bariatric Surgery. She graduated from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with her Masters in Nursing in 2014. Previously, Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) at UCLA and Kaiser Permanente for 7 years.
She joined the OHSU team in 2014 as our Bariatric Surgery and Foregut Nurse Practitioner. She worked in the hospital and clinic for 7 years and now is full time in our Bariatric Clinic.
She is passionate about our Bariatrics and Foregut surgery because she feels our services promote overall health, quality of life, self-care, compassion and increased knowledge of the chronic disease of obesity. She is active in national, regional and local obesity/bariatric surgery committees, enjoys advocating for obesity education and reduction of weight bias, and is always learning to keep her skills up to date.
In her spare time, she is a proud mom, happy partner to her significant other of 10 years, enjoys traveling, hiking, concerts, museums, cooking and reading. You can find her strolling the city with her Mini Aussie and family or trying a new restaurant.
