Avathamsa Athirasala
- Graduate Student, Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program, School of Medicine
Biography
Avathamsa Athirasala is a graduate student with the OHSU School of Medicine. During the course of her Master's program in the University of Pennsylvania and Research Fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, her research focussed on the studying the mechanisms of cell response to matrix mechanics, particularly in the context of stem cell differentiation. More recently, she has worked as a Research Assistant with the Bertassoni lab for 3 years before embarking on her PhD program. Her work with the Bertassoni Lab has focussed on engineering technologies that enhance our understanding of these cell-matrix interactions in a translational context with a goal towards regenerative applications.
