Dr. Brandon Togioka grew up in Oregon and completed his undergraduate training in the Oregon State University Honors College where he majored in Bioengineering. He flew across the country to Baltimore, Maryland, where he completed medical school, residency in anesthesiology, and an obstetric anesthesia fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. He has served as the principal investigator for multiple industry and foundation supported outcomes studies involving chloroprocaine and sugammadex (a novel agent for reversal of neuromuscular blockade). Dr. Togioka is also very interested in healthcare disparities. His article on eliminating disparities related to labor pain management in Hispanic parturients was chosen for the cover of the October 2019 issue of Anesthesiology. Dr. Togioka’s clinical duties focus on the care of high risk parturients. Dr. Togioka was elected to the Association of University Anesthesiologists, is active in the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP) and the Multicenter Perioperative Outcomes Group (MPOG) Committee on Obstetric Anesthesia, and was an inaugural member of the Oregon Maternal Morbidity and Mortality Committee.
