- Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, School of Medicine
- Technical Director, OHSU Laboratory of Immunogenetics & Transplantation
- ASHI Co-Director, OHSU Laboratory of Immunogenetics & Transplantation
Biography
Carley Shaut earned her PhD in Molecular and Medical Genetics from Oregon Health & Science University. After a post-doctoral fellowship researching the molecular biology of early heart development, she transitioned to a clinical career path. She completed her director training and then moved into a director position at the OHSU Laboratory of Immunogenetics and Transplantation. Dr Shaut is active in clinical and educational pursuits serving the solid organ and bone marrow transplantation programs. Carley enjoys her career as an HLA laboratory director because she gets to help solve clinical puzzles, help others understand complex laboratory data, and serve as a liaison between the lab and the clinical teams.
In her free time she enjoys gardening, cooking, and enjoying an active life of hiking, biking, and paddle boarding with her husband and daughter.
