Biography
Charlie Benning has joined CEDAR as a Research Engineer after earning his master’s degree in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley in 2024. Here he worked on mutant generation and high throughput screening methods, designing software for faster and more informative data analysis. Before this Charlie was a part of the CEDAR team working as an intern, focused on cancer research. Here, he created a genetically engineered bacterial sensory system for early lung cancer detection. Now, Charlie will focus on developing innovative methods for biomarker capture for discovery and diagnostics. Outside of work, Charlie enjoys running, skiing, reading sci-fi and fantasy books, and traveling, always ready to start a new adventure! They are excited to join CEDAR and believes their experience and passion will help CEDAR save lives by finding better ways to detect cancer earlier.
