Biography

After graduating from the Duke University Physician Assistant Program in 1995, Claire began her career as a P.A. at the community health clinic for the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians in Siletz, Oregon. Over the past 30 years, she has practiced in several specialties, including primary care, emergency and urgent care medicine, and hospital medicine.

Claire began her career in PA education in 2000 as the Academic Coordinator at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She later served as the Assistant Program Director and Academic Coordinator at the Yale University PA Program. In 2006, she joined the OHSU faculty, where she worked until 2023. During her time at OHSU, Claire held various teaching and administrative roles, including serving as the Director of Clinical Education for 13 years. She enjoys teaching a range of clinical and professional courses, as well as developing curricula and assessments. Claire is excited to return to OHSU, where she will continue to support and guide students on their journey to becoming physician assistants.

In addition to her clinical and education roles, Claire has served on committees for the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).  She currently volunteers as an accreditation site visitor for the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).  Claire has been a regional and national speaker at PA professional meetings and conferences.

Claire has two grown sons.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, paper quilling, baking, knitting, board games (really, almost any kind of game), music from the 1980s, and watching British crime dramas.
