Cristina Puy Garcia, Ph.D.

  • Research Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, School of Medicine

Biography

I focus on investigating the interplay between coagulation factors and blood cells to better understand the molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease. My goal is to develop new tools and therapeutic agents to detect, prevent and safely treat cardiovascular diseases rooted in the blood and circulatory system.

As a cardiovascular engineering researcher, I’m motivated by the thought that my work has the potential to prevent disease and save lives. And as a member of OHSU’s biomedical engineering faculty, I find it rewarding to see students succeed, witness their progress and growth, and celebrate their triumphs and achievements.

I grew up in Pamplona, Spain, and I love traveling and exploring the world with my husband, our parents and our two little boys. Every year, we chose a destination where we spend Christmas together.
