Biography
Dr. Donn Spight is a Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University and a staff physician in the Operative Care Division at the Portland VA Medical Center. Dr. Spight went to Medical School at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and did his General Surgery training at the University of Cincinnati. He completed his Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University in 2007. His clinical interests include laparoscopic and robotic foregut surgery including Bariatrics.
Dr. Spight is actively involved in healthcare training and has served as the Medical Director for OHSU Simulation since 2018. Dr. Spight is a former Associate Program Director in the Department of Surgery Residency and was an inaugural Diversity Navigator in the School of Medicine from 2019-2022. He is passionate about health equity and serves on numerous community Boards including the North By Northeast community Health clinic and REAP (Reaching and Empowering All People). Dr. Spight currently co-leads OHSU’s vaccine equity work to ensure every Oregonian has the opportunity to be vaccinated.
