Biography

Elizabeth Lahti, M.D., is a clinician educator and hospitalist in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. She is Director of Narrative Medicine in the OHSU School of Medicine, where she teaches narrative medicine and reflective practice to medical and interprofessional students, residents, and faculty with a particular interest in identity formation and resilience through story.

Dr. Lahti co-founded the Northwest Narrative Medicine Collaborative a nonprofit which hosts workshops where health professionals, patients, caregivers, and artists explore the experience of illness through story. She is passionate about using health humanities to build meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, and patients. Dr. Lahti is a two time OHSU Education Innovation Grant recipient. She has partnered with the University of Oregon Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art to integrate arts and humanities into medical education. She is faculty advisor for the Women’s Leadership Development Program and the Narrative Medicine Interest Group.

Dr. Lahti’s scholarly and creative work has been published in the Journal of the American Medical AssociationJournal of General Internal Medicine, The Annals of Internal Medicine, Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine and Journal of Nursing Care Quality.
