Biography

As the Director of the Academic Success Center (ASC), I am leading the team that is here to provide you with academic, writing and content support. Our mission is to create a center for learning support where ALL learners can discover the resources and community that they need for academic success at OHSU. Our services are available to students, trainees, residents, postdoctoral and medical fellows. Learners on all campuses, in all programs and at all levels can come to us for support. We believe that learning is a lifelong journey and we are here to provide support to members of the OHSU community, wherever they are on that road.

I am also here for you as a learning specialist: developing and delivering workshops and meeting one-on-one with students to provide academic coaching. I help learners with all aspects of learning including effective exam preparation, test taking strategies, getting more out of reading and lectures, improving efficiency, motivation, focus and goal setting. I am here to support you with whatever academic challenges you are facing.

I received my training in learning support at The Sanger Learning Center at the University of Texas, Austin. While at UT Austin, I provided academic coaching to learners across the university and helped create academic support programs to improve retention of first-generation students, students on academic probation and students at risk of not graduating in four years. In 2019, I joined the OHSU community to build a centralized academic coaching program here. In 2023, that program expanded to become the OHSU Academic Success Center and we are so excited to welcome you all to our new space in the 3030 Moody Building!

When I’m not at work, I’m probably chasing my kids who are chasing my cats who are chasing me in a circle around the house. I also really love breakfast tacos.
