Biography
Dr. Frederick Tibayan is a professor of surgery and associate chief in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the OHSU School of Medicine.
He performs surgery for patients with all types of adult cardiovascular disease, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure and diseases of the thoracic aorta. He has special expertise in heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory assist devices, valvular heart disease and aortic disease.
He also does research to better understand and treat valvular heart disease, and on treatment of the failing heart.
Dr. Tibayan earned his M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Stanford University. He also completed a cardiovascular research fellowship at Stanford.
