Gerald J. Papador, D.D.S.

Biography

Dr. Papador was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he attended Marquette University and met his wife, Nancy. They were married in 1971, and he graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry a year later. After receiving his dental degree, Dr. Papador completed a one-year Dental General Practice Residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. During his residency, his son Nicholas was born. Dr. Papador was then assigned to Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington where he served as a Dental Officer until completing active duty in 1975. While stationed at Madigan, his daughter Christina was born. Following active duty in the Army, Dr. Papador moved his family to Portland, Oregon where he began a two-year periodontal residency program at Oregon Health and Sciences University. He received a Certificate in Periodontology in 1977. The same year, he established a private practice in Gresham, Oregon specializing in periodontics and dental implant surgery. In 1991, Dr. Papador was called up to serve in the Army during Operation Desert Storm.  Later the same year, he returned to his civilian practice where he provided patient care for 34 years. Dr. Papador sold his private practice in 2011, but he continues to provide quality patient care at New Horizons Dental in Vancouver, Washington. Dr. Papador works part-time as an Assistant Professor at OHSU School of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology. He is a clinical instructor in the Predoctoral Program, and he mentors the residents in the Advanced Education Program in Periodontology.  Dr. Papador has served as President of the Oregon Dental Society of Anesthesiology, President of the Oregon Society of Periodontists, and President of the Western Society of Periodontology. He maintains membership in the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, and Western Society of Periodontology. In 2009, Dr. Papador and his wife moved from Oregon to Washougal, Washington where they built a retirement home overlooking the Washougal river valley. They enjoy visits with their children and three grandchildren Lyric, Avery, and Rhodes. Dr. Papador and Nancy enjoy raising a French bulldog, going to the Liberty Theater, listening to the Vancouver Symphony, and dining at local restaurants. Dr. Papador also enjoys fishing, golfing, and restoring English cars.
