Biography

Helen is the Intervention Dissemination Specialist for the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences and Oregon Healthy Workforce Center. Her role is to translate research into practice. She is the link between scientists and potential adopters of occupational safety, health and well-being toolkits and tools. Helen works closely with the center directors and manager on strategic planning for the adaption and dissemination of interventions and toolkits. She works with OHSU's Tech Transfer to prepare the Center's products for commercial or non-commercial dissemination for the center. A key focus of her work is to evaluate and report intervention dissemination effectiveness and success that can help scientists improve future intervention design. Her goal is to improve workplace safety, health and well-being within organizations and businesses around the state of Oregon and beyond through the implementation of Total Worker Health® toolkits and tools.

Helen received a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health where she focused her studies on community health and health disparities. She received a BS in Radio, Television and Film from The University of Texas at Austin, College of Communications. Prior to joining OHSU in the Spring of 2017, Helen has worked in industries and roles ranging from advertising, marketing, health communications, fitness and film. She is passionate about helping workplaces improve their safety, health and well-being through environmental and organizational change, and effective communication methods.
