Biography
James graduated with his B.S.N. from the University of Portland in 2013 and worked as an RN in correctional and emergency nursing until he accepted an RN position at the Oregon Health & Science University’s (OHSU) acute psychiatric inpatient unit in 2015. He continued to work for OHSU through their psychiatric unit’s closure in 2017 and helped facilitate their transfer of care to the newly created Unity Center for Behavioral Health, where he was hired to continue working as an RN in the Psychiatric Emergency Services unit. Later in 2017, he was accepted into the OHSU Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) academic program, from whence he graduated with a M.N. degree and was certified as a PMHNP in 2019. After graduation from OHSU, he was offered a position as an Instructor of Psychiatry at the OHSU School of Medicine to resume working at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health’s Psychiatric Emergency Services unit as a PMHNP.
