Biography
Dr. Jay Gantz grew up in Iowa and attended the F.W. Olin College of Engineering as a member of the inaugural class, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a focus on Bioengineering. He then spent a year in Switzerland doing Bioengineering research on a Fulbright Scholarship before returning to the United States and completing a combined MD/PhD program at the University of Washington in Seattle. He defended his Bioengineering PhD Dissertation in 2013. Dr. Gantz then completed his residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Washington University St. Louis, followed by a Neurotology Fellowship at the University of Iowa. He is board certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Gantz specializes in the surgical treatment of hearing loss and lateral skull base surgery for tumors of the cerebellopontine angle. He is particularly interested in the cutting-edge application of robotics in cochlear implant surgery, cochlear implantation in single-sided deafness, as well as the role of hearing preservation in cochlear implantation.
