- Assistant Professor, School of Nursing
Biography
Jennifer Jagger Kaeser has been a midwife since 2007, providing full-scope midwifery care in hospitals and community birth settings in New York City and Oregon. She loves being a midwife and working with midwifery students.
Over the course of her career, she has advocated for midwives and advanced practice nurses at the state and federal level, serving on various committees within the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). Prior to joining the academic faculty at OHSU, she taught for 10 years in Georgetown's Nurse-Midwifery & Women's Health Nurse Practitioner programs. There, she co-created and coordinated an experiential-based learning activity called Advocacy Day.
In 2022, she earned a Ph.D. in Health Policy from the Oregon State University College of Public Health and Human Sciences. Her dissertation focused on understanding the relationship among political participatory behaviors and attitudes of midwives in the U.S., their political and health policy education, training, and self-efficacy, and the regulatory, legal, and other restrictions they experience in their midwifery practice.
Jennifer grew up in Eugene, lived on the east coast for 18 years, and returned back home to Oregon in 2012. She loves to cook, camp, hike, swim, make music, bike, ski, paddle, and laugh often with her husband and four young children.
